The Challenges of Modern Land Surveying

In my experience as a land surveyor, the biggest challenge is often the accuracy of the equipment we use in varying terrain. Last month, I was working on a large parcel in a hilly area, and the GPS tools were constantly adjusting due to the elevation changes. I’m curious how others deal with similar situations while preparing maps. What techniques do you find effective?

Dealing with elevation changes is tough. I found that incorporating real-time kinematic (RTK) GPS helps a lot, especially in those hilly terrains; it cuts down on error. Have you tried any other methods, or is RTK the go-to for you folks? It’s been a game changer for my accuracy.
