Ever notice how civil engineers always seem to have a soft spot for trees? I mean, we can spend hours making sure that concrete doesn’t mess with the local ecosystem while secretly dreaming of having a treehouse in our backyards. Sustainability is serious work, but sometimes you just have to laugh at how much we love creating spaces for nature — even in our plans.
But isn’t it funny how we’ll design parks to blend with nature but would totally prefer to work in a treehouse? I’d say we just secretly want to take our coffee breaks up in the branches. Ever thought about how many treehouses we could build if we got all our clients on board?
I totally get that! Designing with nature in mind is crucial, but yeah, who wouldn’t want a coffee break in a treehouse?

But it’s true, I often find myself sketching parks that seamlessly blend into the landscape. Last summer, I designed a small community garden with native plants, and it was rewarding to create a space that not only looked good but also supported local wildlife. Anyone else try incorporating local flora into their projects for a more sustainable approach?
